The cleaning products

The commonly used cleaning agents for vacuum toilet systems usually do more than they pretend. Not only do the aggressive acids remove the urinary scaling (if they do so at all), they also affect pipes and seals.

The Smart Concept involves two CeeBee cleaning products; the Smart Toilet Cleaner and the De-scaling Liquid.

• The De-scaling  Liquid dissolves the calcium hardness in the urinary scaling, making it weak and move with the flow. And it does nothing but this!
• Te Smart Toilet Cleaner gel has the same effect on the urinary scaling in the toilet bowls and connections to the vacuum lines, while at the same time thoroughly and hygienically cleaning the toilet bowls.
• The de-scaling agent in both products is a very mild acid that does not affect the pipelines and seals nor the biological system in the sewage treatment tank.
• The cleaning products are biodegradable.

The method

Cleaning Maintenance Method

The cleaning maintenance method involves the cleaning maintenance of both the vacuum lines and the toilet bowls, combining controlled manual and automated dosage and regular visual vacuum line inspection.

Smart Toilet Cleaner is dosed into the toilet bowls by the cleaning crew using a certain fixed quantity to clean a toilet on a daily basis (leaving it without flushing for optimal de-scaling results).

De-scaling Liquid is injected into the system by Smart Vacuum Line Dosing Units, enabling Product Volume Control. The units are placed in strategic places in the vacuum lines. The exact distribution and positions of the units are determined and recorded during the pre- implementation phase of the method.
The Smart Vacuum Line Dosing Unit does not want electricity for valve control. It works automatically by means of the system’s vacuum, continuously feeding the system with liquid and allowing the dosage to be accurately adjusted. The accurate dosage will depend on vacuum depth, water hardness, temperature, spacing of the dosing units and the number of toilets on the specific piece of vacuum line.
By its construction the Smart Vacuum Line Dosing Unit is removable, easily allowing for visual inspection of the vacuum line on the spot. The dosage can be adjusted after inspection if necessary.

The quality of the products together with the control and the partial automation of the Product Volume Control leads to minimization and control of the costs involved.

Cleaning Maintenance Method Pre- Implementation Phase

The pre- implementation phase serves the purpose of finding out the actual level of scaling in the vacuum system and if necessary carrying out initial cleaning and de-scaling activities in order to create a realistic starting situation for implementing the Smart Concept.

In consultation with the ship’s engineers and plumbers locations for boroscope inspection in the vacuum lines are determined.

Boroscope inspections are carried out and recorded on video for future comparison of scaling levels.

Based on the results of the boroscope inspection a plan is made to approach the situation encountered.
If the level of scaling allows so the Smart Concept is immediately implemented.
In most cases however an initial de-scaling period will be necessary. De-scaling can take place in three different ways and the approach and duration will be discussed with the staff involved:

• A Smart Toilet Cleaner boost. This means dosing extra quantities of Smart Toilet Cleaner in the toilet bowls, that will work in the vacuum lines after flushing.
• Using the Cleaning Kit for vacuum toilet systems to circulate De-scaling Liquid in the vacuum lines.
• Implementing Smart Vacuum Line Dosing Units with increased dosages.

After the initial de-scaling period a second boroscope inspection is carried out to check the status of the vacuum lines.

With the staff’s authorization the implementation of the Smart Concept is started.
